Interestingly, the last couple of weeks have seen announcements from both Cisco and Nortel of UC solutions for the Healthcare vertical.

Cisco have heralded this through a survey of 250 hospital nurses, highlighting impacts of communications challenges in hospitals. Unsurprisingly, the findings of the survey illustrate key challenges around the time spent chasing people to get answers, location and availability of the care team and the need for a single nurses’ communication device.

Cisco’s website includes a greatly expanded Healthcare Solutions section, illustrating a variety of solutions - including Connected Imaging, Care-at-a-distance, Clinical Workflow, Smart Healthcare Facilities, Bedside Services, Nurse Connect and Expert-on-Demand.

At much the same time, Nortel are also promoting their capabilities in this area, including the charmingly-named Patient Discharge Solution (it speeds the process of getting patients out of hospital…), Asset Tracking & Management, Collaborative Clinical Solution, and Clinical Alarms & Alerts.

For me, it is extremely encouraging to see UC solutions being positioned creatively, in a way that demonstrates how they meet the specific needs of a particular  industry vertical – in this case, Healthcare.

Do take a look… if you have customers/prospects in Healthcare, it’ll give you an idea of the sort of solutions you could be proposing to them. If not, it’ll give you an alternative view on how to promote UC solutions to your customer base.

Happy selling…
